Privacy and analytics

Your project data is yours. Hemma does not sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models. Here is a plain-language summary of what Hemma collects and how you can control it.

01What Hemma collects

Hemma uses PostHog to understand how the product is being used. The analytics data includes:

  • Which features you use (uploading a document, linking an invoice, creating a budget)
  • Funnel events (completing onboarding, connecting an integration)
  • Usage counts — how many documents processed, how many milestones completed

Hemma does not include in analytics events:

  • Document contents or extracted text
  • Invoice amounts or contractor names
  • Any data that could identify a specific contractor or build project
  • Sensitive personal data

02EU data residency

Hemma uses PostHog's EU cloud instance. Your analytics data is processed and stored in the European Union. It does not leave the EU.

03Opting out

Analytics consent is opt-in. You were asked during onboarding. You can change your answer at any time:

  1. Go to Settings → Privacy.
  2. Toggle Analytics off (or on).

When analytics is off, Hemma sends no events to PostHog. The toggle takes effect immediately — no restart needed.

04Your project data

The documents, invoices, budgets, contractors, messages, and milestones in your project are stored in a dedicated database. They are not used for analytics. Only you and your team members can access them through Hemma.

05AI processing

When Hemma processes a document, the file content is sent to an AI provider for extraction. Hemma's AI provider agreements prohibit using your documents to train their models. The extracted result is stored in your project; the raw content sent to the AI is not retained beyond the processing step.

06Common questions

Does Hemma read my emails? Only emails you forward to your project address. Hemma processes these to extract documents and dates — it does not read your regular inbox.

Can I request a copy of my data? A formal data export is not available yet in the app. Email hello@gethemma.app and we will prepare a copy for you manually.

How do I delete my data? Deleting your account removes your personal data and any projects where you were the sole member. See deleting your account.
