Why did I get this notification?

Every notification Hemma sends has a reason. Here is how to understand what triggered it and where to find the underlying event in your project.

01Reading the notification

Each notification has two parts:

  • The title — what happened or what needs your attention (e.g., "1 thing for today" or "Invoice from Claes is due")
  • The body — the specific item or event (e.g., the invoice name or contractor)

Tap the notification to open Hemma directly on the relevant screen. Hemma links each notification to the source event — tapping always takes you somewhere specific, never just to the home screen.

02Morning digest

The morning digest fires at 08:00 every day. It summarises everything that needs your attention today:

  • Documents waiting for your review (stuck in NEEDS_REVIEW)
  • Invoices due or overdue
  • Decisions with today's deadline

If the digest mentioned one item, it opens that item directly. If it listed several, it opens the project dashboard where you can see the full D0 list.

03Instant alerts

Instant alerts fire as events happen. Common triggers:

  • A document finished processing and needs your review
  • An invoice is now due or overdue
  • A decision deadline has been reached
  • A contractor-linked event happened

Each alert names what it is about. Tap to open the relevant invoice, document, or decision directly.

04If you think a notification was sent in error

  • "I already resolved this." The notification was probably triggered before you resolved the item. Dismiss it.
  • "This invoice is not actually due yet." Check the invoice due date in Hemma. If the date extracted from the document is wrong, correct it on the invoice detail screen. See reviewing and correcting what the AI extracted.
  • "I don't recognise this item." Open Hemma and check the documents screen — a document may have been processed from a forwarded email you had forgotten about.

05Common questions

Can I mute a specific notification type? Not yet. You can turn off instant notifications entirely or turn off the morning digest entirely, but you cannot mute individual event types. See notifications — morning digest and instant alerts.

A notification tapped through to a 404. The item may have been deleted since the notification was sent. Go back to the dashboard.
