My partner can't accept the invite

You invited someone to your project and sent them a link. They clicked it, but it does not work — they see an error, the link expired, or they get stuck on the sign-in page.

You invited someone to your project and sent them a link. They clicked it, but it does not work — they see an error, the link expired, or they get stuck on the sign-in page.

Project invite links are valid for 7 days from the moment you send them. After that, the link stops working.

Fix:

  1. Go to Settings → Team.
  2. Find the invite under Pending invites and click Cancel.
  3. Enter the same email address and send a new invite.
  4. Ask your partner to accept within 7 days this time.

04Other things to check

  1. Wrong email address — the invite was sent to a specific email. If your partner signs in with a different email address, the link will not work. They need to sign in with exactly the email you invited. Ask them which email the invite went to.

  2. Already a member — if they were already a member and then left, sending a new invite and accepting again is the right path.

  3. Sign-in trouble — if they clicked the link and got stuck on the sign-in page, the problem may be with the magic link email, not the invite itself. See my magic link email never arrives.

  4. Invite email went to spam — ask them to check their spam, junk, or Promotions folder for an email from hello@gethemma.app.

05If none of this worked

Cancel the invite and resend. If the problem persists after a fresh invite, email hello@gethemma.app with:

  • The email address the invite was sent to
  • What error message your partner sees
  • When you originally sent the invite
